Procedure Development

Forth Inspection will advise on the correct procedures for non-destructive testing with our consulting services. Knowing what to inspect, when to inspect, and what methodology to use not only improves asset integrity but also helps to reduce the total cost of ownership. We offer extensive Level III NDT consultancy services ranging from inspection planning, reviews of existing inspection procedures and NDT written practices, professional third-party witnessing, and evaluation of collected NDT data.

We support you with a comprehensive portfolio of consultancy services for non-destructive testing (NDT) and provide advice tailored to your industrial sector, the type and purpose of your individual assets, the type of degradation to be expected and the age of your plant.

We strive to provide know-how about specialized testing methods that require extensive expertise or need independent verification. Our experts are acquainted with international codes and specifications. What is more, our consultancy is accredited to Level III for various NDT techniques. We offer application specific training, written reports on processes and procedures, specification advice and dispute arbitration.

TECHNICAL & Quality auditing services

Technical auditing can be supplied for on-site NDT technician surveillances to ensure competency of client workforce. An independent level 3 NDT cross checking service can also be supplied upon client request.

Quality audit is the process of systematic examination of a quality system carried out by an internal or external quality auditor or an audit team. It is an important part of organisation’s quality management system and is a key element in the ISO quality system standard, ISO 9001.

Quality audits are typically performed at predefined time intervals and ensure that the organisation has clearly-defined internal system monitoring procedures linked to effective action. This can help determine if the organisation complies with the defined quality system processes and can involve procedural or results-based assessment criteria.

CIVA modelling

ADVANTAGES

CIVA Modelling reduces the time required for on-site testing and increases the reliability of the tests.

Applications modelling can be used for the following;

  • Prediction and visualisation of ultrasonic field
  • Calculation of focal points
  • Prediction of the interaction of ultrasound with flaws of various types
  • Verification of the behaviour of ultrasound in components of complex geometry (e.g. pressure vessel nozzles)
  • Removal of expensive timely validation activities
  • Enhanced imagery to assist with the understanding of ultrasonic beam propagation

FORTH INSPECTION SERVICE APPROACH

Development and evaluation of inspection approaches for specific applications which typically cover complex geometries where beam paths/profiles would be difficult to assess. A range of ultrasonic inspection approaches can be modelled including single-probe compression & shear-wave pulse-echo, twin-probe “pitch-catch” arrangements, Time of Flight Diffraction and Phased Array Inspection.
